Bob Reynolds Online Lessons

One of the most consistent things I see frustrating students…

…is a plateau of confusion that dominates their playing sometime after getting the basics of their instrument together and learning enough about “jazz” to get them, well, lost.

With so much information available on how to learn your scales, what a ii-V-I is, and how to play over a rhythm changes, how do you filter it all and start making music? That question is often left alone while players busy themselves with more trivial (but immediately satisfying) pursuits like chasing the perfect mouthpiece or regurgitating patterns.

I once was told that application is everything. Learning how to apply even one simple concept or phrase is infinitely more valuable than 3 years of glossing over different information every day.

The goal with these lessons is to foster a strong foundation from which students can craft their own musical path, and create music with confidence.

Video Lessons

The beauty of a video lesson is the ability to watch, listen and learn the same information multiple times. Access them anytime, anywhere, and watch them as much as you want. It’s like having a teacher on Tivo. When it comes to learning something new, there is no substitute for repetition.

Stablemates: Members Only Video Forum

Each week I post a new assignment. There is a forum and members can post videos to share their progress not only with me, but with each other. It’s a powerful tool and we’ve found it makes the learning experience much more exciting and motivating when the students get to know one another and track their progress through their video recordings.

Private Lessons via Video Chat

Limited availability. For the serious student looking to advance not only their technique and harmonic approach, but address the mental and emotional components of becoming an elite performer. Through hour-long video chat sessions conducted via Skype my goal is to identify, encourage, and amplify your existing strengths, while uncovering key areas to focus on for development.

Concepts range from goal-setting and structuring practice time efficiently to visualization techniques and connecting with your inner ear. From developing killer time and playing inside—and outside—of changes to playing in pop, rock, blues, r&b, and funk settings. From composing advice to music career/business advice, this is personally tailored coaching.

Lessons include one month of access to the Stablemates Video Forum.

Whether you’re a beginner or a professional stuck in a rut like I was, having access to a musical mentor of Bob’s caliber is an invaluable opportunity for any player to change direction towards a more enriching musical path.”

”The Stablemates forum is an amazing way of learning. The exercises Bob invents are really creative and every week they add a little something extra to your playing. The best part for me is that not only do you get Bob’s reaction and help with each video but you also have a world of other sax players to learn off of and interact with. You’ll be amazed at what you find in there!”

Killin’ video man! Love it love it love it! Those lessons you gave me, when we worked on “Beautiful Love”, are still kickin’ my butt! It’s a late thank you, but Thank You!, nonetheless, for that lesson. I can’t tell you how much I have appreciated it.
